Excerpt from "Second Cave to the Right"

“It’s a hologram,” he repeated in the tone he used on all of us that clearly relayed he couldn’t believe how idiotic we were. “God took the moon away because of the world’s wickedness. The government didn’t want the world to repent of their evil ways, so they hurried to put the hologram up so we wouldn’t know. But I know.”

“But people walked on the moon.” My 14-year-old brain was trying to wrap around why he believed this.

“It was fake,” he said in a sure tone.

He went back to his book, and the smug look on his face was typical. He always loved to vomit his knowledge on us at any time.
